Week #2\u2026 Getting the hang of this place\u2026 well sorta\u2026 \u00a0This was my second week, and I\u2019m starting to get into some new projects. \u00a0At the end of the week I was assigned to a fairly large project (or at least very visible) on audience analysis. \u00a0The project seems doable in its own right, however I\u2019m dealing with a new environment, new teams, new people, and new forms of communication (protocol, etc..). \u00a0This brings me to the words of the week.<\/p>\n

Words of the week:<\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n
    \n
  • Communication:<\/strong> I am finding it interesting how we communicate in this new role. \u00a0A lot of email chat (i.e. having a conversation over email as opposed to picking up the phone and talking to one another).<\/li>\n
  • Nights & Week-Ends:<\/strong>\u00a0Going from a global, 24 hour company to here is a shift. \u00a0People work late (i.e. tend to come in late, and leave late), but there\u2019s no communication (or little) over-night. \u00a0This will be some adjustment for me as I\u2019m more used to working early.<\/li>\n
  • Toes:<\/strong>\u00a0I feel like I am stepping on toes as I\u2019m discovering my role and where I\u2019ll fit in the organization. \u00a0Some of the projects seem to have too many cooks in the kitchen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
    Number of the week:<\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n
      \n
    • 1\/5th:<\/strong>\u00a0An interesting stat that I discovered this week\u2026 only 1\/5th of the people in the US are active with Twitter. \u00a0It turns out that this appears to even be a broad definition of Twitter (anyone having an account).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      Next week will be tough. \u00a0Short week, and big project coming up, my first fire-drill in this organization.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
