Overall, a pretty packed week, with a good mix of activities. Had a bit of a soft day in the middle, but<\/p>\n

Words of the week:<\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n

  • Data Science:<\/strong>\u00a0I really don’t like this title, but increasingly it is being used. It’s the same as Big Data, Advanced Analytics. They try to define something that is simply too broad and complex to define. I know… you can debate that, especially as you can draw parallels with other professions (doctor is a broad term, historian is a broad term, etc…).<\/li>\n
  • Pace:<\/strong>\u00a0The same as in running, keeping pace, and keeping a steady rhythm. It’s what I have to find. I’m finding that speed kills, but a steady accelerated pace allows for so much progress. So it’s not about going 100% all the time, but going 70-90% all the time, by which time expands).<\/li>\n
  • Conference:<\/strong>\u00a0I’m at a conference today, and it’s really so-so. Much harder to attend conference solo.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
    Number of the Week:<\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n

    • 2:<\/strong>\u00a0Minimum number of people that you need to attend a conference to make the most of it. With one, meeting new people can be daunting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
