After a long series of weeks, this week had some great news, and is the start of our summer vacation. I had a potentially difficult client conversation that ended up being really productive and positive.<\/p>\n<div><em><strong>Words of the week:<\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Frog:<\/strong>\u00a0There&#8217;s an expression out there about eating frogs in the morning. It&#8217;s supposed to reflect taking on the tough stuff first so that you end up feeling more focused on the stuff you like. I practiced this a bit, and so far have seen the benefit. Case in point, a tough convo this week, which I was worried was going to turn a good client relationship into a bad one. At first I wanted to move that conversation to after my vacation, but then decided to tackle it before so that I could have a bit more piece of mind. The conversation went really well, and now I can enjoy my vacation!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Family:<\/strong>\u00a0We are about to spend a week with my wife&#8217;s family.I very much look forward to this time, even though the nieces and nephews are bundles of energy that I&#8217;m not used to handling on a day to day basis.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Waste:<\/strong>\u00a0I&#8217;m realizing that I have less and less patience for waste with people that I don&#8217;t care for. Case in point, a younger consultant who, IMO, is approaching the whole thing from the wrong perspective, but is also very stubborn. I am not sure I can help her.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><em><strong>Number of the Week:<\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>50%:<\/strong>\u00a0I&#8217;m committing 50% to my major client, which will be a lot, but give room to develop work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NOTE: This post was created after the date of the week&#8230; Busy summer, sorry!
