Week 28… A new direction? I had to work Monday from home. I found that I had not been able to do any work over the week-end (Sunday I was flat on my back – just exhausted). As a result, I ended up not making the necessary progress on the innovation story line. This caused chaos during the week. To add to the difficulty of the week, I had another round of interviews with the startup that I’ve been talking to for a few weeks now. There’s some good potential there, but a big risk (that I end up behind the scenes)
Words of the week:
-
Expectations: With the startup that I’m talking to, it seems that aligning what they are looking for and what I can provide is a bit challenging. Part of it is that we’re talking at a high level, so we’re not able to speak of specifics. I proposed a project to them, but I’m not sure how they truly feel about it (they should send me data to conduct some analyses).
-
Pressure: The team I lead is starting to get a lot of pressure on many fronts. This will break us apart, and likely lead to a lot of resignations. Starting with my most critical manager (who reports to me). If she leaves, then I will be immediately after her. It’ll be better to be unemployed than stuck doing her work (at 1/2 her speed). A sad realization…
-
Block: I find that I have to block my time more and more regularly. Just to make sure that I can actually get work done.
Number of the Week:
- 100: The startup that I’m talking to has 100 customers (they just went live this past week). It would be interesting to see how they’ll continue to scale.
