Week 2: 2014-02-15

Week #2… Getting the hang of this place… well sorta…  This was my second week, and I’m starting to get into some new projects.  At the end of the week I was assigned to a fairly large project (or at least very visible) on audience analysis.  The project seems doable in its own right, however I’m dealing with a new environment, new teams, new people, and new forms of communication (protocol, etc..).  This brings me to the words of the week.

• Communication: I am finding it interesting how we communicate in this new role.  A lot of email chat (i.e. having a conversation over email as opposed to picking up the phone and talking to one another).
• Nights & Week-Ends: Going from a global, 24 hour company to here is a shift.  People work late (i.e. tend to come in late, and leave late), but there’s no communication (or little) over-night.  This will be some adjustment for me as I’m more used to working early.
• Toes: I feel like I am stepping on toes as I’m discovering my role and where I’ll fit in the organization.  Some of the projects seem to have too many cooks in the kitchen.

• 1/5th: An interesting stat that I discovered this week… only 1/5th of the people in the US are active with Twitter.  It turns out that this appears to even be a broad definition of Twitter (anyone having an account).
